“ Maniaci showed great courage and deep commitment to public service during her first term, helping to move forward and improve the job-creating, union-backed Edgewater hotel redevelopment. Maniaci is accessible, disarming, and thoughtful. She’s become a key coalition builder on the council with strong advocacy for parks, bicyclists and tenants.”

Elected Officials

Jonathan Brostoff – Milwaukee Alderperson & District 19 Representative
Jonathan

In 2024, after becoming a Milwaukee Alderperson and evaluating the track record and actions of his legislative successor, Jonathan approached Bridget to recruit her to run for this seat, as the two of them were friends, had come up together in progressive Democratic politics, and shared a vision and passion for public service that he thought would serve the district better. At the time, Bridget had only recently opened her small business, and was not then in a position to run.

Bridget has the support of Jonathan’s widow Diana, and his parents Phyllis and Alan in her campaign.

Liz Sumner – Milwaukee County Comptroller

“It’s great to see a dedicated, local female business owner stepping up to serve her community. I’m proud to support her. Bridget’s many years of experience and depth of knowledge will be a great asset to get results for Milwaukee and represent the entire district in the State Capitol.” – Liz Sumner, Milwaukee County Comptroller

Sheldon Wasserman – Milwaukee County Supervisor

“Our district needs a strong representative who works with local government and can get things done. Bridget’s ability to collaborate with others will make the difference in getting results for our community.” – Sheldon Wasserman, Milwaukee County Supervisor

Jason Haas – Milwaukee County Supervisor (2011-2022)

Bridget’s record of creating housing and union jobs is what we need to make Milwaukee shine. She has the skills, creativity, and ability to bring us better infrastructure, a public bank owned by the people of Wisconsin, and state investments here in Milwaukee. Vote for Bridget on August 11 to make this happen! – Jason Haas, Milwaukee County Supervisor

Recent Background History on Endorsements for Assembly District 19

In 2024, the following elected officials actively endorsed AGAINST the incumbent:

  • County Executive David Crowley
  • Mayor Cavalier Johnson
  • Milwaukee County Board Chair Marcelia Nicholson
  • Democratic state Rep. Daniel Riemer
  • Milwaukee Alderperson Jonathan Brostoff
  • Milwaukee Supervisor Sheldon Wasserman
  • County Supervisor Jack Eckblad
  • County Supervisor Shawn Rolland
  • Former County Supervisor Jason Haas

Going back decades, it was unprecedented for a Democratic incumbent to face so much opposition from his own party. As Urban Milwaukee has previously reported, “it was Ryan Clancy’s antagonistic style rather than his political views that burned bridges with many Democrats, both in the state Capitol and the Milwaukee County Courthouse.”
